Former 49ers offensive lineman Tom Compton remains unsigned
Remember offensive lineman Tom Compton? He filled in for Mike McGlinchey at right tackle when McGlinchey suffered a season-ending quad injury halfway through the 2021 season.
Regardless of how well or poorly Compton played in relief, he at least turned that effort into a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos the following offseason.
Now, McGlinchey is off to Denver, while Compton is a free agent again.
An unsigned one, at best.
Could a team like the Niners explore a reunion with Compton? Currently, it appears as if San Francisco’s plan to replace McGlinchey is with another backup, Colton McKivitz, who couldn’t beat out Compton for a roster spot back in 2021.
Times have changed, yes, but Compton is still out there and waiting.
Maybe for a call that might never come.
