There’s nothing like a Twitter spat between players, and 49ers legend Joe Staley got into it with two Giants notables, most recently Michael Strahan.

It’s understandable why San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Staley was a little hot after the Niners were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game last weekend.

No, San Francisco didn’t have much of a chance after watching quarterback Brock Purdy suffer a serious elbow injury on its opening possession, and the game simply unraveled from there despite whatever efforts head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad attempted.

The end result? A 31-7 defeat and one of the more-embarrassing postseason departures in the franchise’s history.

Granted, Staley didn’t exactly come out of nowhere to fling shots at Eagles players, both present and former.

No, instead, it was a New York Giants 2022 rookie, EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, who opened up the door for some ridicule by mocking the 49ers and how poorly things were going for them during the game.

Staley’s quote tweet echoed how many Niners fans probably felt at that moment:

From there, a very predictable back and forth ensued with Thibodeaux going as far as to question who Staley, a 13-year pro with six Pro Bowls to his name before retiring in 2020, was.

Staley “politely” answered:

It was one thing for Staley to go back and forth with Thibodeaux.

Yet things started going a bit too far when former G-Men kicker Lawrence Tynes entered the chat, lending support for the rookie and tossing shade at Staley for what happened in some of San Francisco’s other postseason losses, including two Super Bowl defeats:

Tynes and the Giants defeated the 49ers in the 2012 NFC Championship game, too, en route to their own Super Bowl.

Staley’s response to Tynes was pretty spot on, though, tweeting out, “Ur a kicker.”

However, according to Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, also a Giants legend who had success against Staley and the Niners during his career, kickers are people, too.

So is Thibodeaux.

Strahan didn’t hesitate to throw his own weight around after entering the chat:

Staley hasn’t responded… yet.

Look, there won’t be any Staley slander here. Not on this site. However, it might be wise for the legendary left tackle to quietly remove himself from the discussion, perhaps wishing Thibodeaux’s initial tweet never warranted a reaction.

Although some back-and-forth beef on Twitter is never a bad deal for entertainment value.
