The 49ers should hopefully feel optimistic about Deebo Samuel being available in Week 12 against the Saints, but he’s on the injury report nonetheless.

One of the beautiful elements of the San Francisco 49ers’ one-sided Week 11 win over the Arizona Cardinals was how head coach Kyle Shanahan was able to involve nearly every one of his offensive superstars in the Monday Night Football victory.

Running back Christian McCaffrey had over 100 all-purpose yards, tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk each had two touchdowns, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel had 57 yards through the air and another 37 on the ground.

If the Niners didn’t have so many offensive weapons, it would certainly be a bit more concerning if a key player showed up on an injury report.

That’s the case with Samuel now, as San Francisco prepares to host the 4-7 New Orleans Saints in Week 12.

The short week with the 49ers having played on Monday night could have forced Shanahan to be slightly more cautious with his star players.

As such, Samuel was listed on the Niners’ injury report and was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. Likewise, EDGE Samson Ebukam was also limited with both Achilles and quad injuries after missing the last two weeks with those setbacks.

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot, ankle) did not practice on Wednesday, while left tackle Trent Williams was given a veteran’s day off.

Will Deebo Samuel play for 49ers vs. Saints?

Samuel has dealt with hamstring issues over the course of his career, and he already missed one game this season with that injury.

Considering the short week, though, there’s probably a better-than-good chance that Samuel is able to heal up well enough between now and Sunday, putting himself into a position where he’ll be available against New Orleans.

San Francisco still has another day of practice on Friday, and that might be a key determining factor for Samuel returning this weekend.

The 49ers square off against the Saints on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4:25 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
