49ers Dud: George Kittle

It feels wrong to be writing this about my favorite member of the 49ers, but tight end George Kittle simply did not have that productive a night against the Chargers.

He did have a very nice reception that helped kickstart the Niners offense, and he blocked well as he always does. But against such a depleted defense and playing at home, you can’t help but think he should have had more on the stat sheet.

Kittle had a single reception for 21 yards for the night. True, he’s a team-first player and an excellent personality to have in the locker room, so he won’t care one bit as long as the team got the win.

But this season he hasn’t had the sort of production we’ve seen in other years, and whether or not it’s his injury history or just having a down year it’s a bit of a problem if he doesn’t produce more.

Luckily for Kittle, however, the offense is swamped with talent so there are alternatives, so he has time to figure it all out and have better games out there.
