Welcome to Niner Noise’s 49ers live game thread for San Francisco’s Week 10 matchup against the Chargers. Discuss the game with writers and fans in the comments section!

After the team’s annual bye week, the 4-4 San Francisco 49ers host the 5-3 Los Angeles Chargers under the lights of Levi’s Stadium on Sunday Night Football. This key Week 10 matchup for both teams kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA — known to many in Southern California as Levi’s North.

The Niners will benefit from the return of some key reinforcements during tonight’s game, including banged-up wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who has yet to play a full healthy game alongside newcomer running back Christian McCaffrey. Two additional running backs — fullback Kyle Juyzczyk and top 2021 RB Elijah Mitchel will also return to game action.

The 49ers’ trio of starting linebackers will be active for the team’s Sunday Night Football matchup, but key defenders like defensive lineman Arik Armstead and defensive end Samson Ebukam will sit tonight’s matchup out.

The Chargers are a bit banged up themselves and will be forced to play without wide receivers Keenan Allen, and Mike Williams. The away team will also have to face an upbeat 49ers defense without the advantage of key members of Los Angeles’ offensive line. In the end, victory will likely be dependent on hobbled QB Justin Herbert’s time in the pocket and the production of star running back Austin Eckler — a proven threat on the ground and through the air.

49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans’ performances have been quite up-and-down over the past month, and the one-time head-coaching prospect must prove that he can properly defend against an inferior offense with limited healthy weapons due to ongoing injury problems. Given what appears to be a clear plan for success, it is important for Ryans to demonstrate his ability to do what needs to be done for success after handling the Los Angeles Rams with relative ease over the second half of San Francisco’s last contest.

49ers vs. Chargers: Bets, odds & spreads

The 49ers developed from strong favorites to heavy favorites over the course of the week — per our friends at WynnBET — and are currently favored by over a touchdown as the two teams prepare for the opening kickoff.  For those betting the game, also of note is head coach Kyle Shanahan’s subpar record as home favorites against the spread, similar to the Chargers’ recent success against the spread as away underdogs.
