No. 1: Christian McCaffrey has a 49ers pedigree

The last name McCaffrey was well-known in the NFL throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

That McCaffrey happened to be wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, Christian’s father, who was most well known for his time with the Denver Broncos.

The senior McCaffrey was best remembered as being a member of the 1997 and 1998 Denver teams that won back-to-back Super Bowls. And, during the 1998 season, McCaffrey also earned a Pro Bowl selection.

This McCaffrey, however, was a lesser-known member of the 1994 Niners team that just so happen to win Super Bowl XXIX.

Granted, McCaffrey wasn’t a huge contributor on the 49ers in the 1994 season, recording only 11 receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns, although he would have one reception for 5 yards in the Super Bowl at the conclusion of that season. Nevertheless, he would still earn a Super Bowl ring as a member of that San Francisco squad.

Christian McCaffrey therefore already had a connection with the Niners before he joined the team in late October of 2022.

He will look to continue his father’s legacy and also to win a Super Bowl with the 49ers, but in this instance as a high-impact player who will definitely put up big numbers.
