49ers game today vs. Rams: Week 8 injury report, spread, over/under, schedule, live stream, TV channel
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers face off against the Rams for the second time this season, and Niner Noise breaks down the latest betting odds, injuries and how you watch live.
Way back in Week 4, which seems a long time ago, the San Francisco 49ers were in desperate need of a “get right” game after starting off the season with a 1-2 record.
The Niners responded by pummeling the Los Angeles Rams 24-9 on Monday Night Football.
Now, entering Week 8, San Francisco is looking again to “get right,” only this time on the receiving end of a two-game losing streak but having to travel to Southern California to take on the Rams once more.
The 49ers originally opened up as two-point road favorites for this NFC West bout, but the spread has shifted towards a pick-em bet.
And a big reason probably resides on the Niners’ Week 8 injury report, the fact that All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel won’t be suiting up for the game.
49ers injury report vs. Rams Week 8
Samuel suffered a hamstring injury during San Francisco’s Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and head coach Kyle Shanahan ruled him day-to-day. But, after missing all three days of practice, Shanahan subsequently downgraded Samuel to out.
One of the 49ers’ most potent weapons will be unavailable for this contest, and he joins the list of players on the team’s injury report this week:
- WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring): OUT
- DL Arik Armstead (foot): OUT
- LB Dre Greenlaw (calf): OUT
- FB Kyle Juszczyk (finger): OUT
- WR Jauan Jennings (hamstring): Questionable
- CB Jason Verrett (knee): Questionable
Armstead is now missing his fourth game in a row, while the Niners will have to get creative on both sides of the ball with Greenlaw and Juszczyk not available.
However, with Verrett recently activated off the physically unable-to-perform list, having him back might help alleviate the season-ending loss of cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to an ACL tear.
49ers vs. Rams odds, spread, over/under & betting pick Week 8
Injuries are likely a key reason why the line shifted from -2 in favor of San Francisco to a pick-em game, and that’s what the oddsmakers over at WynnBET have right now.
As such, both the Niners and Rams have a moneyline of -110, while the over/under for the game is currently 42.0.
Samuel being out is a major X-factor, yes, but San Francisco addition of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey helps alleviate that loss, as McCaffrey can be used in a similar fashion, while it was actually the 49ers defense that thwarted Los Angeles way back in Week 4.
Perhaps those elements prove to be the difference makers on Sunday, leading to the Niners’ predicted victory of 21-13.
Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
