49ers injury report: George Kittle practices, but ‘questionable’ Week 2 vs. Seahawks
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle was finally back on the field Friday as 49ers list Week 2 injury report
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was listed as questionable Friday for Sunday’s Week 2 home opener against the Seattle Seahawks, but some good news came out of practice.
Which is to say, Kittle was a participant.
Kittle did not play Week 1 vs the Chicago Bears after suffering a groin injury. He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday this week, but showed up in many a practice video on Twitter Friday afternoon.
He was limited, but he was there.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told the media that Kittle was questionable and a game time decision.
Offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill (hamstring) is listed as out.
Per 49ers Web Zone, general manager John Lynch told KNBR before practice that the decision on Kittle will go down to the wire.
"“This is a long season, but every game takes on great [importance], especially the division ones. So we’re going to hold out hope that George is ready. We’ll see if we get him out here today. I think that’s critical. And if that doesn’t happen, it’s probably not looking good. But George is a type of player that you even wait until Sunday.“I did that many times in my career, where you don’t practice all week, you find a way to go test it before the game. So I think it’s going to go right down to the wire. He is improving, though, and we just want to make sure we have a healthy Kittle for the entirety of the season moving forward.”"
Per 49ers team reporter Lindsey Pallares, Shanahan noted that Kittle has improved from a week ago.
Kittle found great success against the Seahawks last year, including grabbing nine receptions for 181 yards in December. He caught four passes for 40 yards in the teams’ October meeting.
Between the field conditions and the offensive line, second-year quarterback Trey Lance struggled mightily without his three-time Pro Bowl tight end against Chicago on Sunday.
The 49ers relied on tight ends Tyler Kroft and Ross Dwelley, who made one reception apiece, as well as Charlie Woerner, who made none.
