49ers Worry No. 1 vs. Texans: Trey Lance

So, we’ll get to the real worry, and that’s how Trey Lance will perform in his second career start in a game San Francisco simply cannot afford to lose.

Lance had a mixed debut as a starter against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5, going 15 of 29 passing for 192 yards and an interception along with rushing the ball 16 times for 89 yards and a near touchdown, which could have taken the game to overtime.

Lance had some problems with accuracy and nerves, as would be expected from a raw quarterback prospect, but he didn’t have tight end George Kittle at his disposal, and receiver Brandon Aiyuk was still finding his way towards contributing for the offense.

As you’d expect, Lance leaned on Pro Bowl receiver Deebo Samuel, who had three receptions for 58 yards off nine targets.

The Texans are not very good, but any game is still going to be a nervous experience for Lance. Luckily, he should have more support this time around and a game plan that should seem him taking fewer hits than he did against Arizona.
