No. 1: Jimmy Garoppolo finds Brandon Aiyuk for a 49ers touchdown

Deebo Samuel could have been a massive star, and that would have been fine to predict.

Yet it was fellow wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk who led the 49ers through the air with seven catches for 79 yards and the following touchdown, which showcased Jimmy Garoppolo threading a touch pass between two defenders while experiencing some pressure to his front:

It was a clean route for Aiyuk, who wasn’t touched by any Jacksonville defender and found himself in a seam between the two coverage backs.

And it was equally as impressive for Garoppolo to time that throw perfectly at a point where neither defender even had a chance to converge on Aiyuk before the catch. While the hotly contested catches in traffic are always fun and draw attention, the clean pitch-and-catch plays are the ones that show the best execution.

Garoppolo and Aiyuk executed perfectly on this play, and it turned out to be the game-winning score.
