The 49ers have received All-Pro production from Deebo Samuel this season, and his betting odds to have the most receiving yards in 2021 are awfully high.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is on a torrid pace this season.

That’s no hyperbole. Over nine games played in 2021, Samuel already has 979 receiving yards and is a mere underwhelming game away from being the first Niners wideout to record over 1,000 receiving yards in a season since Anquan Boldin did it back in 2014.

Currently, Samuel is averaging 108.8 receiving yards per contest. If he were to keep that pace up over the rest of the year, he’d finish with a whopping 1,849 receiving yards on the season.

For those who were wondering, the franchise’s record for most receiving yards in a single season is held by Hall of Famer Jerry Rice with 1,848, set back in 1995.

Samuel’s current yardage marker ranks second among all NFL pass-catchers this season, trailing only Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (1,141), who has played one more game than Samuel this season because of San Francisco already having its bye week and also on 85 catches to Samuel’s 54.

Not surprisingly, the betting odds for Samuel to finish with the league’s most receiving odds this season are notably high.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel has NFL’s second-best odds to have most receiving yards in 2021

Entering Week 11, which just so happens to be Los Angeles’ bye week, the oddsmakers over at WynnBET currently list Kupp to be the odds-on favorite to have the most receiving yards in 2021.

Samuel, however, isn’t far behind:

  1. WR Cooper Kupp, Rams: -140
  2. WR Deebo Samuel, 49ers: +400
  3. WR Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals: +800
  4. WR Davante Adams, Packers: +1000
  5. WR Tyreek Hill, Chiefs: +1400
  6. WR Stefon Diggs, Bills: +3000
  7. WR Justin Jefferson, Vikings: +3000
  8. WR Marquise Brown, Ravens: +4000
  9. WR CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys: +4000
  10. WR Michael Pittman, Colts: +4000

What’s certainly influencing this close race between both Kupp and Samuel, both in terms of total yardage and the betting odds, is the fact Samuel has 522 yards after the catch over nine games to Kupp’s 506 over 10.

Another potential X-factor, though, is the fact the Rams also lost fellow wide receiver Robert Woods to a season-ending injury, which affords Kupp more targets but also potentially at the expense of recently acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who might cut into that number.

Samuel, meanwhile, has continued to shine at a crazy pace despite the recent ascent of fellow wideout Brandon Aiyuk in recent weeks and the presence of All-Pro tight end George Kittle.

Kupp may nevertheless finish with the most receiving yards this season anyway. But the fact Samuel is so high on this list is a testament to the impact he’s had thus far in 2021.
