49ers Super Bowl odds: San Francisco tied for third best chances in 2021
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers are looking like serious contenders for Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, according to the oddsmakers over at WynnBet.
One of the common themes for the San Francisco 49ers is how they can be a serious Super Bowl contender in 2021 if they stay healthy.
Honestly, that’s a line that should be granted for any team any year. But in the Niners’ case, coming off a 2020 campaign where they suffered more serious injuries than any other squad by a long shot, and that’s not just hyperbole, it’s going to be an overarching theme until head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad can buck the injury-prone association.
If San Francisco does, however, signs are pointing to the team being a legitimate contender for Super Bowl LVI this upcoming February.
WynnBET has 49ers with third best Super Bowl LVI odds
It’s easy to peg both the AFC and NFC representatives for the Super Bowl from last season, the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as favorites to get back to the big game again.
After all, the Chiefs have made it there two years in a row and were a mere snap away from getting to the Super Bowl at the tail end of the 2019 AFC Championship game. The Bucs, meanwhile, retained all of their 22 starters on offense and defense.
So, not shockingly, the folks over at WynnBET have listed both the Chiefs and Buccaneers as the top two favorites for Super Bowl LVI:
- Chiefs: plus-500
- Buccaneers: plus-600
Not to be outdone, however, the 49ers are right in the mix, currently tied with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams for the third best odds to win Super Bowl LVI:
- 49ers: plus-1200
- Rams: plus-1200
- Bills: plus-1200
In either of these three teams’ cases, you’d win an additional $1,200 if you placed a $100 bet for a gross payout of $1,300.

What’ll stop 49ers from reaching Super Bowl LVI?
Yes, the injuries are a dark cloud over the Niners’ chances. But a bigger obstacle could be a tough NFC West where San Francisco has to stave off Los Angeles, the always-present Seattle Seahawks and an Arizona Cardinals squad that’s arguably going to be the best last-place team in the NFL this season, assuming that’s how the standings pan out.
All four teams could feasibly beat each other up and prevent an NFC West squad from getting to 13 or 14 wins this season.

It won’t be the same case for another Super Bowl contender like the Green Bay Packers (plus-1400), who have a rebuilding Detroit Lions squad twice a year, a middle-of-the-pack Chicago Bears team and an unknown in the Minnesota Vikings on the docket in the NFC North.
This might prevent a team like the 49ers from securing a top seed within the conference, meaning there will be road games en route to securing another NFC championship crown.
Still, at least it’s refreshing to see the oddsmakers believing in the Niners’ chances this year.
