49ers announce final 53-man roster after 2021 cuts
By Peter Panacy
49ers 53-man roster: Offense
Quarterback: Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance
Running Back: Kyle Juszczyk, JaMycal Hasty, Elijah Mitchell, Raheem Mostert, Trey Sermon
Wide Receiver: Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Trent Sherfield, Jalen Hurd, Jauan Jennings, Mohamed Sanu Sr.
Tight End: George Kittle, Ross Dwelley, Charlie Woerner
Offensive Line: Alex Mack, Aaron Banks, Daniel Brunskill, Tom Compton, Jaylon Moore, Laken Tomlinson, Mike McGlinchey, Trent Williams
Ladies and gentlemen, third-year wide receiver Jalen Hurd made the initial 53-man roster.
After missing the last two regular seasons with serious injuries, and also despite having two drops during the Niners’ final preseason game of 2021, Kyle Shanahan was enamored enough with the unique skill set Hurd has to offer.

Now, one can only hope the 6-foot-4 receiver can continue to stay healthy.
However, San Francisco parting ways with Travis Benjamin and Nsimba Webster keeps some question marks about the return duties on special teams.
Yet the top three receivers are going to be drawing the most focus, and there’s no other combination other than Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Sherfield, the latter being quite the preseason standout and potentially the 49ers’ best hidden-gem find this offseason.
And good for second-year pro running back JaMycal Hasty, too, who was facing an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster, even though it came at the expense of the pass-blocking upside of the veteran, Wayne Gallman.
Of course, the No. 1 position fans everywhere will be watching will be at quarterback where Jimmy Garoppolo still likely has a slim lead over the rookie, Trey Lance, for the rights to start for the Niners in 2021.
