No. 4: 49ers Offensive Guard Aaron Banks

Rookies are often provocative during training camp, and San Francisco will have no shortage of first-year players who’ll draw attention this summer.

One player in particular should stand out for the simple reason he’ll be able to put his strength to use, former Notre Dame guard Aaron Banks.

The 6-foot-5 guard was known for his power at the collegiate level, and there wasn’t much of a way to see that during OTAs aside from him working on the sled and in one-on-one drills.

But when the pads come on, one of Banks’ top traits should rise to the surface.

One scouting report from before the 2021 NFL Draft said Banks was the kind of player who “plays with a nasty attitude, keeps his head on a swivel, and always looks for someone to hit.”

True, the 49ers have to work out some minor kinks in Banks’ game, and he might have to adjust to the more zone-style offense employed by Kyle Shanahan. Yet it should be pretty provocative to see just how physical and imposing Banks will be now that contact will be allowed during practices.

Look for him to be one of the more impressive linemen when training camp kicks off.
