The 49ers kick off their 2021 training camp later this month, and look for these five players to stand out the most in a good way.

The San Francisco 49ers will officially begin their 2021 training camp practices on Saturday, July 31 with players expected to report on July 27.

Fortunately, unlike last year, the Niners were able to execute the bulk of their offseason workouts, which hopefully provided a blueprint for the various first-, second- and third-string units head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff will monitor in advance of the regular season. And while there were setbacks during OTAs, such as losing offensive lineman Justin Skule and defensive back Tarvarius Moore to injuries, a number of positive storylines also painted a picture about what could potentially develop during camp.

One of the big factors will be the ramp-up in competition. Once the pads come on, there will be added contact and physicality, driving up the intensity needed to help formulate the 53-man roster.

With that as a backdrop, and with plenty on the line heading towards Week 1, look for these five players to show off in a good way.

No. 5: 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa

Out of all the players San Francisco can’t wait to get back on the field this offseason, third-year EDGE Nick Bosa has to be there towards the top.

Bosa, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 last year, spent the bulk of the offseason rehabilitating. And judging by one of his recent workout videos, it’s looking as if the knee injury isn’t bothering him at all:

The loss of Bosa last year ultimately resulted in the 49ers boasting just 30 sacks in 2020 as opposed to the 48 they enjoyed during their Super Bowl run the previous season. But what’s going to be more important is Bosa taking the pressure off the other cast members of the Niners defensive line.

Already one of the preeminent pass-rushers in the NFL, Bosa will be more than eager to show off his skills during training camp, upping the efforts from his teammate offensive linemen who’ll be tasked with having to block him during practices.

Good thing they won’t have to worry about going up against him on game day.
