Predicting 49ers running back Week 1 depth chart

The team could possibly bring in another free agent or an undrafted rookie who completely wows in training camp. This probably will not happen, but who knows what moves the 49ers will make in the future.

More from Niner Noise

Now looking at the Week 1 depth chart, this makes the most sense:

  1. Raheem Mostert
  2. Jeff Wilson Jr.
  3. Wayne Gallman Jr.
  4. Trey Sermon
  5. Elijah Mitchell
  6. Kyle Juszczyk

Normally, teams do not keep more than four running backs. The draft capital the 49ers put into the running back position makes it hard to not see the rookies not making the roster. Gallman makes it over JaMycal Hasty for his experience in the league.

Kyle Juszczyk is a back will be making the roster. He is too valuable to the team, and the Niners did also just give him a new contract. And, like previously said, Josh Hokit will be Juszczyk’s backup in case of injuries and probably finds himself on the practice squad.

This is not set in stone. There could be some other potential moves that pop up before Week 1 that could shake things up as well.
