49ers Can’t-Miss Prospect No. 4: Tight End Kyle Pitts

Now, if for some reason the 49ers are not going after a quarterback, Florida tight end Kyle Pitts would be a crazy addition with the Niners’ own tight end, George Kittle.

Some have argued Pitts is the best pure offensive weapon in this year’s NFL Draft, and the only reason he’s often mocked towards the end of the first 10 picks, or even into the teens, is because there will be an early run on quarterbacks.

More from Niner Noise

Pitts is a huge red-zone threat and perhaps the best pure pass-catcher in this year’s draft. At 6-foot-6 and 246 pounds, he’s a huge target San Fransisco’s quarterback, whoever he winds up being, would be ecstatic to have.

And remember, few teams are even close to being adequately prepared enough to defend against two prolific tight ends, let alone a single one like Kittle.

Pitts would be a great player to replace now-New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne’s red-zone presence. Paring Pitts with Kittle would be a matchup disaster for other teams’ defenses, and trading up to No. 3 overall might be the best way the 49ers ensure that happens.

Overall, the Niners would be thrilled to have any of these talented prospects on their upcoming roster. All the quarterback talk this offseason seems to lean towards San Francisco going with a quarterback, and the blockbuster deal all but ensures it. Even though Pitts is special.

Nonetheless, this huge move is very exciting, and it will be interesting to see whom the 49ers inevitably select with the third overall pick in the upcoming draft.
