SF 49ers: 3 perfect Kyle Shanahan players in 2021 NFL Draft
SF 49ers NFL Draft Fit No. 1: Quarterback Justin Fields
Can you imagine the media storm if Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields ended up on the SF 49ers?
Fields would literally transform this team into a multi-year competitor.
OK, so this is nothing against the Niners’ current franchise signal-caller, Jimmy Garoppolo, but Fields is next level. He has the natural talent Jimmy G can only dream of. Fields is everything a modern-day quarterback should be: fast, mobile, has a big arm and has a durable frame.

I can’t say with much confidence Garoppolo possesses even two of those listed traits.
Fields’ only real knock is that his accuracy can use some work, but I’m confident Kyle Shanahan would be able to fix that rather quickly.
Fields would spearhead an offense tailor-made for a player of his skill set. He would also be walking into a system with multiple big-play threats and would have the luxury of playing behind a solid offensive line featuring newly re-signed superstar left tackle, Trent Williams. This situation would be picture-perfect for everyone involved and would probably kickstart a multi-year hunt for the franchise’s sixth Super Bowl. Fields literally embodies the definition of a mobile modern-day quarterback and would fit right into San Francisco’s system.
Unfortunately for the SF 49ers, Fields is not likely to fall to the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL Draft, meaning Shanahan would have to hope against hope Fields would somehow slip into the middle portions of Round 1.
Or the Niners would be able to aggressively move up to get in position to draft Fields, probably within the top five.
