SF 49ers: Analyzing experts’ 2021 first-round mock drafts
No. 1: Tight End Kyle Pitts to SF 49ers
NFL Media Analyst Daniel Jeremiah had a completely different take on what the SF 49ers should do with their first-round draft pick. And it includes drafting at one of the few positions that does not need an upgrade.

Jeremiah suggests the Niners use their pick to select Kyle Pitts, tight end from Florida. He was ready with a rebuttal for all the readers that were thinking “hey but the 49ers already have an All-Pro tight end named George Kittle.”
Jeremiah’s logic was Kyle Shanahan is a fan of positionless football. And very much like how he schemes fullback Kyle Juszczyk into the gameplan, he could do the same with Pitts who is a freak athlete.
Pitts would definitely be an asset to any offense he went to. But with the current state of the SF 49ers, it seems to not be a prudent move to try and go after a position that does not need an immediate upgrade when there are other position groups that need more help.
With greater needs for depth at the interior offensive line, defensive back and even quarterback positions, it seems that adding another tight end, whether versatile or not, might not be the best move for the franchise in the first round.
