No. 1: Whoever is playing the Seattle Seahawks

Many a San Francisco fan would happily choose a mere two goals for each season:

  1. SF 49ers win the Super Bowl
  2. The Seattle Seahawks don’t win the Super Bowl

More from SF 49ers News

In 2021, only the latter can come true. And it’s still a good goal for the SF 49ers fanbase to have.

After the Seahawks swept the season series over the Niners in 2020, including the heartbreaking 26-23 come-from-behind win in Week 17, San Francisco fans will have no shortage of reasons to hope quarterback Russell Wilson and Co. go through yet another premature exit from the playoffs.

And hopefully in heartbreaking fashion for Seattle, too.

As far as the anti-Seahawks rooting guide will go, SF 49ers fans may want to either ignore the Wild Card round against another NFC West rival, the LA Rams, or bite the bullet and actually cheer for Los Angeles. If the Seahawks win that challenge, there are a number of other scenarios where Niners fans could end up cheering somehow for someone else. Perhaps Washington or even the Buccaneers.

For now, at least.

At any rate, San Francisco fans are going to be pulling for Seattle to join them sooner than later on the offseason waiting list for the start of the league new year.
