No. 2: Indianapolis Colts

There was probably a sizable portion of the Niners fanbase that secretly turned into Indianapolis Colts fans not long after San Francisco traded away its star Pro Bowl defensive tackle, DeForest Buckner, in a cap-saving move last offseason.

Buckner, who helped transform the SF 49ers from a two-win team into a Super Bowl contender during his tenure, became a mainstay for a vastly improved Colts defense over the course of 2020.

It’s a massive wonder why he wasn’t selected to the Pro Bowl after putting forth a tremendous effort this season.

Nevertheless, Buckner has to be feeling pretty good about getting back into the NFL playoffs after watching his former team fail to crack seven wins on the season. And while the seventh-seeded Colts will have a long, tough road ahead of them, including a Wild Card matchup against the No. 2-seeded Bills to open up the postseason, there would be nothing wrong with picking Indy as the team to pull for.

Especially if it’s somehow able to move beyond Buffalo in the Wild Card round.
