No. 3: Buffalo Bills

Like the Browns, the Buffalo Bills have also undergone some long stretches of time where they were among the league’s worst. And while there have been more recent successes in Buffalo, including playoff appearances after the 2017 and 2019 seasons, the Bills haven’t actually won a postseason game since 1996.

Just about as long as Cleveland.

Yet there are two other key reasons why SF 49ers fans can key in on Buffalo as “their team” this postseason.

For starters, quarterback Josh Allen is a Northern California native and grew up a Niners fan. Some Niners fans can wonder “what if?” when thinking about how much success Allen is having in his career-setting season.

On top of that, one could argue the Bills are the best-equipped team to take down the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, whose win over San Francisco last February still stings a ton.

If Allen and the Bills somehow ensure the Chiefs don’t get a back-to-back championship dynasty started this postseason, few SF 49ers fans would complain.
