SF 49ers: 5 players who should be on Santa’s naughty list
By Peter Panacy
No. 1: SF 49ers Wide Receiver Trent Taylor
If wide receiver Trent Taylor wasn’t on Santa’s naughty list this year, he certainly found his way onto Kyle Shanahan’s naughty list.

It’s tough to get out of Shanahan’s doghouse. Just ask no-longer-Niners players like running back Matt Breida or wide receiver Dante Pettis. But while Pettis’ descent from grace was well-documented, Taylor’s fall this season has been provocatively odd to watch.
In 2019, before his Jones fracture, Taylor was a training camp standout and looked to be fully recovered from the back issues that plagued him the year prior. Entering this season, the hope was he’d regain that same form.
Only it didn’t happen on the field.
To date, Taylor has just 10 receptions for 86 yards. He’s been bumped in and out as San Francisco’s punt returner, often finding himself a healthy scratch and being made active only in the wake of other injuries at his position.
Not good.
So, if we’re considering Shanahan as the SF 49ers’ own Santa, it’s safe to say Taylor ended up being placed high on the naughty list.
But at least all of us here at Niner Noise can wish you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday season and a Happy New Year!
