No. 3: SF 49ers Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

Wide receiver Trent Taylor missed all of 2019 due to injury. Many (myself included) thought he would have a bounce-back season in 2020.

But his 2020 season has been anything but spectacular. He has appeared in all 10 games thus far, but his numbers are quite pedestrian. Taylor has been targeted 21 times this season and has converted that into 10 receptions for 86 yards and no touchdowns.

In a season when the wide receiver room has been hit by injuries and COVID-19 scares, Taylor had an opportunity to step up. But unfortunately, he has not been able to take the next step and become the type of slot receiver that his wide receivers coach Wes Welker was in his prime.

In fact, Richie James was the receiver who stepped up in the absence of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne. When the wide receiver room is back to full health after the bye week, James will likely get more offensive snaps than Taylor going forward.
