No. 1: 49ers Right Tackle Mike McGlinchey

When an offense finishes a season ranked No. 2 overall, the offense line of that team usually gets heaps of praise. That was the case with the 49ers in 2019. Their passing game was great and their running game was stupendous.

But when it was time to recognize individual accolades of the offensive linemen with Pro Bowl selections, surprisingly none of the 49ers’ big men were mentioned.

More from Niner Noise

The offensive line of the 2019 49ers was led by the one-two punch of the tackles, Mike McGlinchey and Joe Staley.

Staley, the longtime veteran who just retired this offseason, was selected to six Pro Bowls during his 13-year NFL career (all with San Francisco). McGlinchey represented the other end of the spectrum on the offensive line: youth. The 2018 first-round pick of the 49ers, was named to the 2018 PFF NFL All-Rookie Team after his first season.

He followed up with an even more dominant sophomore season especially when it came to the run game. Fans should expect even more evolution from McGlinchey when it comes to his abilities and all-around game.

In an article put out earlier this offseason, Pro Football Network ranked the top 25 offensive tackles going in the 2020 season. McGlinchey appeared at No. 11 on the list.

Although there are quite a few other tackles from the NFC ahead of him on the list, he still has a real shot at being selected for the Pro Bowl in 2020, especially if the 49ers have another season where they are a top-ranked offense.

If they appear in the top three of offenses in the league, people will have to start taking notice and they won’t be able to ignore the McGlinchey any longer.
