49ers wide receivers: Dante Pettis on the roster bubble?

Third-year wide receiver Dante Pettis showed a lot of promise in his rookie year, particularly over the final five games where he flashed signs of being a true No. 1 receiving threat.

In the 2019 season, though, Pettis struggled hard early on during training camp, and those issues carried over into the regular season. Kyle Shanahan relegated Pettis to the back end of the wide receiver depth chart, and the former Washington Husky was even inactive for Super Bowl LIV.

That is hardly the outcome desired from a former second-round NFL Draft pick.

His struggle and the emergence of Deebo Samuel has put his future with the 49ers in jeopardy heading into 2020.

Granted, Pettis has a lot of talent. But he also has a lot to prove to make the roster this upcoming season.
