No. 5: Week 2 @ New York Jets

In Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season, the 49ers head east to play their first of two back-to-back games at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. In their first road game of the season, they take on the New York Jets.

It just so happens that there will be a very familiar face in the Jets backfield. Former 49ers running back Frank Gore recently signed a one-year deal with the Jets. Although he will be 37 years old upon the start of the season, he still looks to be an important part of the Jets offense behind lead back Le’Veon Bell.

Gore, the franchise rushing leader for the 49ers, is fondly remembered by his former team’s fans. To be fair though, he is still quite fond of the team himself as he regularly writes uplifting posts about his former team on Twitter.

While the 49er Faithful will obviously be rooting for a victory for their team in Week 2, many of them will be silently (or not so silently) rooting for Gore as an individual. Because with each yard he gains, that puts him closer to No. 2 on the all-time rushing list.
