Draft needs

The Steelers have to go all in to have one last chance for a Super Bowl before quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retire. They needed to find him some offensive help as well as some help on the defensive line.

2020 NFL Draft class

  • No. 49: Chase Claypool, Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
  • No. 102: Alonzo Highsmith, EDGE, Charlotte
  • No. 124: Anthony McFarland, Running Back, Maryland
  • No. 135: Kevin Dotson, Guard, Louisiana-Lafayette
  • No. 198: Antoine Brooks, Linebacker, Maryland
  • No. 232: Carlos Davis, Defensive Tackle, Nebraska

Draft review

The Steelers did well to come out of the draft with some weapons. Chase Claypool might have some separation issues, but if he can find a way to get the ball with his athletic ability, then it could be a home run draft pick. Anthony McFarland was good value in the fourth round.

Alonzo Highsmith is a project, but I could really see him turning into a solid EDGE in the NFL. Antoine Brooks and Carlos Davis are good value late as defenders who can stop the run.

No pick particularly wowed me, but I really loved how solid the picks are.
