2020 NFL Draft: Final Round 1 mock draft with trades and explanations
This would be a dream scenario for the Lions. They’ve been linked heavily to Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah for a long time, and here they can trade down and still get him.
How good is Okudah? His ceiling is Canton worthy if he plays up to his potential. I know that’s a big call, but I really think Okudah is one of the best defensive back prospects in the last decade.
He has all the intangibles to be a truly great cornerback. His feet and athleticism are already elite and mean that he is rarely out of position to cover his guy and make a play. He’s had 17 pass deflections in the past few seasons and outright erased half the field for a good portion of his collegiate career.
It’s legitimately hard to find a flaw. He can fit in both man- and zone-coverage schemes, he can press receivers really well, he has a good IQ for the game and he can make plays on the ball. He simply has it all.
If there is any flaw, it’s that he isn’t the best tackler you’ll see. But you don’t need to be if you stop them getting the ball in the first place.
