5 players 49ers should avoid in 2020 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
It’s possible, perhaps likely the 49ers look to replace defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, whom they traded off to the Indianapolis Colts for the No. 13 overall NFL Draft pick earlier this offseason, with one of those two first-round picks.

As of now, it looks like a rotation will be part of the solution. And with the draft somewhat thin and top-heavy for interior talent, San Francisco would either have to choose to grab someone early or wait for a sleeper on day three.
One of those early potential candidates is Alabama defensive tackle Raekwon Davis, who currently sits on the fringes between the first and second rounds. If Davis was coming off a campaign like the 8.5-sack, 10 tackle-for-a-loss effort he enjoyed in 2017, he’d be a surefire top-10 pick. But his production slipped majorly the last two seasons, and he’s looked more like a quality run stuffer than a true interior pass-rusher.
Granted, players who eat up gaps and lock up multiple blockers have their merits. But those kinds of players can be discovered later in the draft, especially if they’re known to project more as run defenders first.
Those late-round types are going to be much cheaper as well.
The 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23.
