No. 2: Solid Contributor

A highly likely scenario that plays out for Travis  Benjamin is he becomes a solid contributor for the 49ers offense as a depth piece.

The wide receiver room may be crowded, but depending on how the recovery process goes for a number of his teammates, he could find himself as the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart.

Being at the No. 4 spot would have him on the field considerably less than the top three receivers, but he’d likely be in on passing downs where he would have chances to make plays.

This would put him in a similar situation as was given to wide receiver Kendrick Bourne last season. Bourne only had 358 yards receiving in 2019, but he was efficient when the team needed him. He was targeted six times in the red zone and had five receptions, all of which were for touchdowns.

Benjamin could see a similar role for himself in the 49ers offense in 2020. In this scenario, look for him to be used in certain situations with specific plays drawn up for him which exploit his speed and agility.

And if that is the case, look for him to have somewhere in the range of 450 yards receiving.
