No. 4: Wide Receiver Breshad Perriman

The 49ers losing veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to the New Orleans Saints in NFL free agency creates a glaring hole a the position.

It’s likely the Niners use one of their first two draft picks to grab a wideout, yet relying heavily on a rookie pass catcher right out of the gate is a risky move. And there are far too many questions behind wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne to suggest the team is fine here. It’s not.

As far as low-risk options go, San Francisco could do much worse than target former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Breshad Perriman.

Perriman was a bust for the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted in Round 1 back in 2015. Drops were a big-time problem, although he appeared to solve that after joining the Cleveland Browns on a one-year deal in 2018.

Last year, particularly thanks to the Buccaneers losing wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to injury, Perriman ended up thriving as a go-to offensive target, picking up 645 yards on 36 catches with six touchdowns.

The 6-foot-2, 215 pounder is fast, too, checking off another box for Kyle Shanahan.
