No. 2: Defensive End Jeremiah Valoaga

One player who was on the 49ers practice squad last season and should make an impact in 2020 is defensive end Jeremiah Valoaga.

His production in the 2019 exhibition period was highly impressive. He recorded 4.5 sacks which put him at second overall in that statistic for the 2019 preseason.

Valoaga spent the majority of 2019 on the 49ers practice squad before being activated in November. He appeared in four games, but only played 44 defensive snaps in those games. And towards the end of December, he was waived by the 49ers. Another team, however, was waiting in the wings to sign Valoaga.

The Las Vegas Raiders (then Oakland) recognized his abilities and claimed him off waivers after he was waived by the 49ers. Valoaga will get a chance to prove himself on the Raiders next season. So while he won’t be making an impact with San Francisco in 2020, he will get a chance to do so with another team in the league.
