2020 NFL Combine: 3 players no longer in 49ers draft range
By Peter Panacy
One can only wonder what Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers offense could do if they were able to land Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III.

Ruggs might have played second fiddle to his former teammate and fellow NFL draftee, Jerry Jeudy. But not at the NFL Combine. If anything, Ruggs was the far more impressive player.
Why? Well, all Ruggs managed to do was run an insanely fast 4.27 40-yard dash, then backed it up with an impressive 42-inch vertical leap. While the speed factor is something Ruggs fans have known for a while, a 5-foot-11 wide receiver being able to rank tied for second in this drill is more than just a little noteworthy.
It’s downright outstanding.
Perhaps out of all the positions San Francisco wants to address this offseason, wide receiver is atop the list. And this year’s NFL Draft class is exceptionally deep, too. Looking at Ruggs, one could imagine how Shanahan would deploy the speed threat in an attempt to open up everything else for players like wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle.
Yet Ruggs’ efforts pushed him far beyond the range the Niners will be targeting, and one could make the argument the Crimson Tide standout could be in consideration for top-10 status.
The 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23.
