San Francisco 49ers: Post-Super Bowl 54 7-round mock NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers already grabbed one cornerback, Cameron Dantzler, earlier in the draft. But finding another key component for the secondary, particularly as a depth piece, would be a wise move.
San Francisco already has an excellent nickel corner in K’Waun Williams. Yet Williams is entering a contract year in 2020, and it’s nowhere close to clear whether or not the younger, cheaper D.J. Reed can assume Williams’ spot in 2021.

Perhaps, as Reed displayed some solid moments as a starting nickel in 2018 during some of Williams’ injury-related absences.
But even if that’s the case, finding a quality backup for Reed would be a smart move. Especially if the player winds up offering some flexibility on the boundary.
That’s essentially what kind of cornerback Michigan’s Lavert Hill is. At 5-foot-11 and 182 pounds, Hill projects to be more of a nickel back at the pro level, and his twitchiness and experience there suggests he’ll continue in that kind of role when entering the NFL. But he also has played on the outside, displaying a lot of the same characteristics Emmanuel Moseley, who is also on the smaller side, showcased in 2019.
The 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. And if you didn’t like the mock, don’t worry. We’ll kick out more in coming weeks leading up to draft day.
