The San Francisco 49ers are about to host the Minnesota Vikings with the winner to go to the NFC Championship. Niner Noise has five bold predictions for the 49ers first game on the road to the Super Bowl.

The time has nearly arrived to watch the San Francisco 49ers do battle with the Minnesota Vikings in a clash that few predicted would happen.

But the Vikings upset the New Orleans Saints, so here we are.

By now, you’ve seen everything there is to see about the playoff matchup, so there’s not much to bore you with.

So let’s just get on with the predictions.

No. 1: Jimmy Garoppolo will throw for at least 300 yards and no turnovers

One of the big unknowns for the 49ers is quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. How will he perform in his first ever playoff start?

I’ll back Garoppolo in: I think he will have a flawless game (turnover wise at least) with the football.

We saw a clinical Garoppolo in what was essentially the divisional title game at Seattle with a 18-of-22 passing performance for 285 yards and no turnovers.

Minnesota is a good team, of course; you don’t make the playoffs if you aren’t. But Garoppolo was able to bring the goods against a tougher team on the road, and I think having a week off from playing while also being at home will benefit him.

Look for Garoppolo to continue to deliver on his breakout season against Minnesota.
