No. 4: Defensive Tackle Arik Armstead

The 49ers have an tremendously stacked defensive line, and one could make the argument at least three, perhaps all four of the starting cast should get the Pro Bowl nod.

But one player who absolutely deserves to go is the Niners’ 2015 first-round NFL Draft pick, defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who leads the defense with an astounding eight sacks on the year along with two forced fumbles.

Those stats, combined with 33 tackles — fifth best on the defense — are more than indicative Armstead is finally coming into his own at the NFL level.

It’s the perfect time to do so, too, as Armstead is poised to hit free agency in 2020.

Voters are going to recognize just how good San Francisco has been this season. And when those voters see the numbers Armstead is putting up, they won’t be able to leave him off.

DeForest Buckner and EDGE Dee Ford are strong candidates, too, of course. But Armstead is looking to be a guarantee.
