No. 4: Cornerback Richard Sherman

Staying on the cornerbacks theme, veteran defensive back Richard Sherman is also another player to watch, as he looks to battle it out against his former Seahawks team.

More from SF 49ers News

This alone would make Sherman a must-watch player. But Sherman wasn’t overly pleased with the 49ers’ defensive efforts on the road last week against the Arizona Cardinals.

Seeing Sherman play with a proverbial “chip on his shoulder” is something which only adds to his motivation, if there wasn’t enough there already.

Yet there are enticing challenges facing Sherman, too.

For starters, he’ll see a combination of Seahawks wide receivers D.K. Metcalf and Josh Gordon, the latter who’ll be making his Seattle debut on Monday night after being acquired following him being waived by the New England Patriots.

Metcalf could be the bigger threat, though. Even for a rookie, Metcalf’s 525 receiving yards and five touchdowns means Sherman will have to be on point in this crucial NFC West showdown.
