No. 1: Wide Receiver Emmanuel Sanders

Speaking of the Broncos offloading assets in preparation for a complete rebuild, this speculation from NFL insider Benjamin Allbright was interesting:

Like with Chris Harris, Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is an aging veteran on the last year of his current contract. And he’ll probably have one more shot to cash in on what would be a good-sized deal once 2020 rolls around.

The good thing, though, is Sanders is still highly productive and would be a massive threat within Kyle Shanahan’s innovative offense. There’s experience somewhat, too, as Denver offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello cut his teeth under Shanahan as the 49ers quarterbacks coach, previously.

San Francisco is banged up at wide receiver, notably with Jalen Hurd and Trent Taylor dealing with back and foot injuries, respectively. On top of that, second-year wideout Dante Pettis has yet to flash the same prowess he showcased late last season.

Also like Harris, it probably wouldn’t take much for the Niners to land a player like Sanders, especially considering the relationship between John Lynch and the Broncos general manager, John Elway. If Denver’s plan is to let Sanders walk this offseason, opting to get both younger and cheaper, it should keep the asking price fairly low.

Sanders would be the closest thing San Francisco would have to a true No. 1 wide receiver threat, if such a trade goes through.

If it does, it’ll have to be before the Oct. 29 deadline.
