No. 2: Cornerback Chris Harris, Denver Broncos

Jalen Ramsey would solve both a short- and long-term problem the 49ers have at cornerback. But there are more than a few reasons why the Niners will stay out of the Ramsey sweepstakes, especially if the Jaguars continue to win games with quarterback Gardner Minshew under center.

Yet San Francisco isn’t limited to just trading for a player like Ramsey.

Instead, a more-likely option would be a deal for Denver Broncos veteran corner Chris Harris.

At 0-4, the Broncos are terrible. And as FanSided’s Matt Verderame pointed out, it’s time for Denver to blow the whole thing up:

Harris, 30 years old, isn’t quite the long-term fix, of course. And his 2020 deal will probably be the last sizable one he gets for his career.

Still, it’ll surely be less expensive than Ramsey’s eventual contract. Plus, the 49ers and Broncos already have an excellent trade rapport, likely benefiting both sides in one way or another. San Francisco gets reinforcement options at the position, while Denver nets what could possibly be a day-three NFL Draft pick, which is something more than it would have received if Harris walks in free agency.
