NFL power rankings: 49ers surge in Week 3, while Saints fall

W, 13-12 vs. Jaguars

Yes, the Texans drop a couple of spots in our NFL power rankings after beating the visiting Jaguars. But that has more to do with what the other teams in this area did, rather than Houston falling off completely.

Yet the Texans’ win over Jacksonville wasn’t particularly impressive, certainly not from an offensive vantage point. Quarterback Deshaun Watson wasn’t great, completing just over 55 percent of his passes and being under duress for most of the game.

He took another four sacks in the game, by the way, and that could be a problem over the course of the year despite some of the offensive line improvements Houston has attempted, recently.

Wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller were largely held in check, too.

At least the Texans defense managed to keep Jacksonville’s so-so offense from doing much damage, and that could go a long way in determining the AFC South pecking order.
