Round 13: TE Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins

The later rounds are filled with draftable options at the tight end position, which allows us to capitalize on the potential upside of the extra running back or wide receiver we picked up in the middle rounds. The opportunity cost of wasting a mid-round pick on a tight end is too great when we can grab a player like Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed for free at the end of the draft.

The oft-injured Reed certainly turns off many fantasy football owners who have been burned by the former Pro-Bowl tight end. Although Reed has yet to play a full 16-game season over the course of his career, he is allegedly healthy and ready to go for the 2019 season — and Washington will certainly need him as an outlet receiver in the passing game:

The Redskins’ Week 1 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles will be a good test for the Reed,  as the Eagles are generally stingy to opposing tight ends. However, Reed has historically been fairly matchup-proof, and Washington is likely to be in a negative game script, chasing points through the air for much of the game.

However, the Cowboys, who face the ‘Skins in Week 2 are much more tight-end friendly, The good thing about the tight end position this season is Reed is easily replaceable via the waiver wire if he proves to be ineffective or catches the injury bug once again.
