Predicting 49ers’ 2019 depth chart at wide receiver
No. 3: Marquise Goodwin
2018 saw Marquise Goodwin’s production the worst it has been in three years. He finished with 395 yards from 23 receptions, averaging 17.2 yards per reception and four touchdowns. Goodwin missed five games spread throughout the year, due to injury and tragic personal issues.

While this affected his stats dramatically, Goodwin will need to capitalize his time on the field as much as possible for 2019. With Dante Pettis on the rise and the recent additions of both Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd, Goodwin will need to continue to earn his position on the team.
Several months ago, I would have had Goodwin slated as the team’s No.1 receiver. However, Kyle Shanahan has since come out indicating Goodwin will likely be used in a lesser role this year, in an attempt to stave off injury.
However, while he is on the field, Shanahan has managed to turn Goodwin into one of the Niners’ best and most threatening receivers. Through his sheer speed, he is able to quickly blow past and separate from defenders, often leaving him wide open for the deep ball.
While he is known as a deep threat, Goodwin has also improved his route running, making him a much more versatile receiver.
