This might be the first big surprise for some on the list, but I do believe wide receiver Jalen Hurd will start slow in his 49ers career.

More from SF 49ers News

Hurd is a pick the Niners made for down the road. He’s raw right now, but undoubtedly talented.

The key to Hurd’s development is not to rush it; he has to learn his routes properly and get better at running them before hitting strong.

We saw a similar situation with Dante Pettis, where he started slow but exploded after the bye week when he was coached up during that time. We may not see Hurd explode as quickly, but he will down the road.

In terms of immediate impact, however, he will obviously make the roster and will play in games. However, his snaps and impact may well be minimal while his potential is being brought out.

Don’t expect a huge debut season from Hurd just yet.
