Now that the San Francisco 49ers have wrapped up the 2019 NFL Draft, the race is on for the top undrafted free agents. Our Niners 2019 UDFA tracker has a running list of all the latest signings, news and rumors.

If you’re an undrafted free agent who wants a job in the NFL, you’re anxiously awaiting a post-draft call from the San Francisco 49ers. Although head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have a number of early round talent on their roster, the concept of meritocracy reigns supreme in San Francisco.

In 2018, the 49ers’ leading quarterback, running back and wide receiver were all undrafted free agents. And San Francisco’s top offensive talent, tight end George Kittle, was a third-day draft selection.

When the drama of the draft ends, the true insanity begins. NFL-caliber starters are available on the open market, and for an extremely affordable price.

So, who will be the 49ers’ next version of Nick Mullens or Matt Breida?

While the rumors fly, we’ll be here to track down and compile all the latest 49ers UDFA news and signings. So, sit back, relax and refresh. Just remember that we’re here to do the hard work, so you can watch your favorite punter highlights on repeat.

Every NFL team is now on the clock, including the 49ers, who will likely not be adding too many bodies after selecting a total of eight players in this year’s NFL Draft.

Iowa Offensive Lineman Ross Reynolds Provides Additional Competition at Guard

Some Safety Depth with Arizona’s Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles

The Arizona Daily Star’s Michael Lev reported Arizona safety Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, who had six interceptions over four years in college, will be joining the Niners:

San Francisco spent limited resources, just a sixth-round pick, addressing its secondary during this year’s NFL Draft. So Flannigan-Fowles will look to supply additional depth to a group that does have some injury concerns entering 2019.

Defensive Tackle Kevin Givens Bolsters the Niners D-Line

The 49ers already added to the defensive line in the NFL Draft, yet it appears as if Penn State defensive tackle Kevin Givens will be doing so, too.

Givens, 6-foot-1 and 283 pounds, looks to provide some rotational depth. He managed 13.5 sacks and 22 tackles for a loss over the last three seasons with the Nittany Lions.

Wake Forest DB Cameron Glenn

Wake Forest defensive back Cameron Glenn looked like he was confirming joining the Niners:

Glenn spent four seasons with this ACC school, registering four interceptions and 11 pass breakups over that span. At 6-foot-1, he figures to compete four boundary cornerback depth.

Stephen F. Austin Long-Snapper Chris Wilkerson Signs with the Niners

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported the team may have found their temporary long-snapper, Chris Wilkerson:

Colin Holba is still in the picture, as is still-suspended Kyle Nelson. Wilkerson likely competes with the former and could push Nelson out, if things go well enough in camp.

49ers Get Josh Rosen’s Replacement at UCLA, Wilton Speight

When the Arizona Cardinals selected quarterback Josh Rosen in the 2018 NFL Draft, former Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight was able to take advantage and work his way into Rosen’s starting stead at UCLA.

Now, according to Speight’s Instagram, he’s heading to San Francisco.

Speight completed just over 60 percent of his passes at UCLA, tossing for six touchdowns against six interceptions over seven games.

Wyoming Tight End Tyree Mayfield to 49ers

The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reported the Niners are bringing aboard Wyoming tight end Tyree Mayfield:

It looks like Mayfield has a bit of experience at fullback, meaning he’s likely a camp body to keep the Pro Bowl fullback, Kyle Juszczyk, fresh for training camp and the preseason.

West Georgia Wide Receiver Malik Henry Signing, Too

Barrows also reported the Niners are bringing aboard former West Georgia wide receiver Malik Henry, who’ll bolster an already deep cast of pass catchers heading into training camp.

Henry came over from Georgia Southern, Breida’s alma mater, and also has some special teams abilities, according to the wideout’s player page on West Georgia’s website.

There could still be a number of moves, particularly if San Francisco releases players to make room for UDFAs, but Niner Noise will keep you posted on those as the frenzy to sign undrafted prospects continues.
