Jeffery Simmons. 26. player. 46. . Defensive Tackle. Mississippi State

The upstart Indianapolis Colts addressed some key needs in free agency, including bringing back cornerback Pierre Desir and landing veteran EDGE Justin Houston. Adding wide receiver Devin Funchess gives quarterback Andrew Luck another target to go along with fellow wideout T.Y. Hilton.

Still, general manager Chris Ballard’s first order of business should be to continue working on the defensive side of the ball.

Houston should help the pass rush, but it would be smart for Indy to add an interior presence to take pressure off the veteran.

One name to watch here is Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who runs with a hot motor and should be a disruptive force up front, capable of drawing multiple blockers and freeing up the Colts’ rushers off the edge.

There’s room for upgrades at the second and third levels of Indianapolis’ defense, too, although starting off with Simmons would be a good way to go.
