With the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine complete, Niner Noise dishes out a new mock draft for each of the San Francisco 49ers’ picks this April, going with an obvious first choice.

For a defensive-needy team like the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, it’s good there were so many defensive risers during the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, which concluded on March 4.

More than a handful of defenders, particularly defensive linemen, excelled during drills from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis ahead of this year’s NFL Draft. And with massive speculation the top-drafting Arizona Cardinals are going to go with Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray at No. 1 overall, the Niners may essentially have their choice of whatever player they want at No. 2.

It’s a great position to be in, truly.

Of course, the Cardinals could merely be fueling the rumor mill, which is overly common this time of year. And in an earlier Niner Noise mock, Arizona went against the speculation and took the best player from this year’s draft class, Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa, which prompted a would-be trade down by San Francisco.

That could be the case, of course. But if the Cardinals hold true to the rumors and take Murray, it doesn’t seem totally likely the 49ers try any sort of trade down from the second overall pick.

Sure, there are some targets who would be worthy of a trade down. Florida State’s Brian Burns was electrifying during his workouts, and he’s no longer a late first rounder. Burns could easily go in the top 10.

Yet the Niners could still land Bosa just by staying put, and that’s how our post-NFL Scouting Combine mock starts off.

With no trades, of course.
