No. 1: Quarterback Nick Mullens

There wasn’t a lot that went right, offensively, for San Francisco back in Week 13. On a positive note, however, the 49ers outgained the Seahawks 452 yards to 331.

And quarterback Nick Mullens accounted for 414 of those yards through the air, going 30-of-48 with two touchdowns, an interception and a passer rating of 95.3.

Not bad, considering the hostile atmosphere at CenturyLink Field.

Granted, the majority of those numbers came well after the Seahawks already established they were on the way to a win over their rivals. But that doesn’t change the fact Mullens is proving himself worthy of play at the pro level. He’s no longer an experiment or developmental prospect.

Another thing to consider is Mullens will have a key weapon at his disposal, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who was out on personal leave back in Week 13. Goodwin’s speed should open up things underneath, which also makes fellow wideout Dante Pettis another player to watch.

Pettis recorded 129 yards on five catches with a touchdown in Seattle, and Mullens would be wise to look his way some more against a Seahawks defense averaging 6.7 yards per pass attempt.
