No. 3: Tight End George Kittle

I wrote an article centering the fantasy prospects of 49ers receivers recently and said that none of them would be worthy investments, due to head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense, which I believe will be the spread-the-ball offense.

However, the red zone is a different story.

The 49ers do not have a red-zone threat at the wide receiver position. But they do have one at the tight end position.

Enter George Kittle, another second-year player on this list. The 6-foot-4 and 250-pound tight end from Iowa had a rocky start to his rookie season, dropping quite a few catchable balls. However, he slowly but surely found his stride and ended the season as a red-zone threat with all the potential in the world.

Part of the reason why Kittle did not become a well-known tight end last season was because of his shared playing time with the veteran, Garrett Celek, to help ease his transition into the league.

Sorry, but “Celek Time” is almost up. Kittle’s playing time will inevitably have a huge uptick this season. His training wheels are off. Expect Kittle to become the 49ers’ red-zone threat in 2018.

And please draft him in your fantasy football leagues.
