No. 3: Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo

2018 ADP: 7.09

Heck, Jimmy Garoppolo’s ADP should be 1.01 heading into 2018.

OK, we’re kidding. You’re probably following the trend of focusing on filling your fantasy quarterback needs in the middle or late rounds this season. And it’s not a bad strategy.

But if you’re aboard the Garoppolo hype train (you should be), there’s nothing wrong with grabbing the QB1 in Round 7 of your draft.

Consider this — Garoppolo turned around the offense last season with a limited knowledge of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s playbook and without a full crop of offensive playmakers. And while Garoppolo’s 7-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio last year might be cause for concern among fantasy owners, one should expect the quarterback to create a better, likable split with a deeper command of the system.

A more-rounded offense too, namely due to running back Jerick McKinnon‘s presence. More on him later.

Garoppolo averaged 308.4 yards passing per start last season. And while fantasy owners would like to see the touchdown numbers increase, one should feel pretty safe with Jimmy G in a starting role this season.
